Meggitt A/S, a division of MEGGITT PLC’s Sensing Systems division, has been an expert in the manufacture of piezoceramic components for sensors since 1952. The company was acquired by Meggitt in 2008 and has since invested in advanced solutions for managing its industrial wastewater.
Meggitt's challenge
During the manufacture of piezoelectric ceramics, wastewater containing heavy metals and chemicals is generated, which means it cannot be discharged directly into the environment. This resulted in high costs for wastewater disposal, which was neither economically sustainable nor responsible in the long term. Therefore, Meggitt was forced to explore other solutions for treating and disposing of its contaminated wastewater.
The Solution
ENVOTHERM supplied an ET100 Wastewater treatment plant capable of treating up to 600 m³ of process water annually. This solution has significantly reduced Meggitt A/S ’ wastewater disposal costs. The wastewater treatment plant is equipped with sensors and probes that monitor the system and provide early warnings if cleaning or replacement of wear parts is needed.
With its user-friendly control system, Meggitt’s employees can easily monitor the processes and all parameters via a touch panel, cell phone, or computer. ENVOTHERM’s engineers can also access the plant online to monitor the process and quickly identify any issues, ensuring efficient and precise problem-solving.
