Benteler A/S
Benteler A/S manufactures aluminum components for the automotive industry. This process generates process water containing surfactant emulsions that cannot be discharged directly. Previously, this meant that a large portion of the wastewater at Benteler A/S had to be disposed of. However, with a Wastewater treatment plant from Envotherm, Benteler A/S can now treat its process water more efficiently. This has reduced the volume of wastewater requiring disposal and contributed to more cost-effective operations.
About Benteler A/S
BENTELER Automotive Tønder A/S, part of the global BENTELER Group—which has more than 30,000 employees across 153 locations in 40 different countries—specializes in the production of aluminum components for the automotive industry.
The group is known for its high standards in materials, production, and technology. In Tønder, BENTELER manufactures aluminum parts for the automotive industry, a process that generates wastewater as part of the rinsing process.
Benteler's challenge
The manufacturing process for aluminum components generates wastewater containing surfactant emulsions, which makes it impossible to discharge the wastewater directly.
As a result, a large portion of the wastewater previously had to be disposed of.

The Solution
ENVOTHERM supplied an ET1000 E-MVR system to BENTELER under a lease agreement, which enables the treatment of up to 6,000 m³ of wastewater per year.
The wastewater treatment plant enables BENTELER to reuse more than 95% of its wastewater as distilled water, while less than 5% is discharged. This solution has provided Benteler with savings on wastewater disposal of over 50% right from day one.
With ENVOTHERM’s ET1000 Wastewater treatment plant , BENTELER has achieved both economic and environmental benefits that effectively support its production of aluminum components.
